Swing Dance Cork

Would you like to perform in the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival on Sunday 24th Oct at The Cotton Club in the Firkin Crane? Fancy stepping out onto the stage and showing what you've got with some of your fellow dancers?!

There will be "performance workshop" the weekend of 1 - 3 October, a rehearsal the week before the show, a dress rehearsal on the 24th October, with the actual performance around 10pm on the night! And, a special "after party" late into the night for performers!

Here's the low down....

Date - Oct 1-3rd
Performance workshop - with Jessica-Peel-Yates and Elaine Peace
Venue- Salsango Dance Studio (numbers limited to 18 people).
Time- Fri 7.45 - 9.45pm. Sat 1 - 3pm and 4 - 6pm. Sun 1 - 5pm.
Cost - €70 includes performance workshop, rehearsals, The Cotton Club and "after party".
Two hour rehearsal the week before in the Firkin Crane - time and date TBC
Dress rehearsal - Sunday Firkin Crane 1-3pm (time may vary)
Performance - Sun Oct 24th around 10pm.

The workshop weekend will explore what it takes to shine on stage. Together we'll create a unique choreography with something for everyone. Jessica Peel-Yates and Elaine Peace will be inspiring you and tapping their canes, saying "fame hurts, and right here's where you start paying....." You need at least to be comfortable with basic Lindy Hop moves - i.e. swing outs, the Charleston etc. It is a chance to perform in the Jazz Festival as well as improving your dancing.

The Cotton Club is a swing night held in the Firkin Crane …it includes the Swingin’ Blue Cats’, cabaret, dance lesson and Swing DJs. Anyone who is anyone wants to be seen at The Cotton Club – sailors with gorgeous gals on their arms, the famous, the aspirational, the flamboyant, the thrill seeker…
